Pay 2012 Membership Dues

We OFA members are often asked the following questions: "What does OFA stand for?" "What is OFA anyway?" and "What does OFA do?" It's easy to answer the first question. "OFA stands for Organizing for America" ....and to answer the last two questions, the OFA team came up with the following OFA WA mission statement during a planning session at our place a few weeks ago.

OFA WA mission statement:

OFA Washington is the President’s organization to educate the public about his agenda and accomplishments.

President Obama has made incredible progress over the past two years, rescuing an economy that was in freefall, passing comprehensive health insurance reform to rescue a health care system that was in crisis, and laying a new foundation for economic growth.

Please join OFA's efforts to support President Obama and work for progress in your community. Use the information below to contact OFA staff and find out what is going on in your community.

  • Recovery Act: The Recovery Act has saved or created as many of 3.3 million jobs, boosted the American economy, increasing GDO by as much as 4.5 percent in the 2nd quarter of 2010, and provided tax credits to 95 percent of working families.
  • Affordable Care Act: The President enacted the Affordable Care Act, which provides stability and security to Americans who have insurance and provides affordable options for those who don't; lowers costs for families, businesses, and our country as a whole; provides the largest middle class tax cut for health care in our history; and prevents insurance industry abuses and denial of care.
  • Wall Street Reform: President Obama enacted strong Wall Street reform. As a result of reform, Americans will have the information needed to make the best financial choices for their families; companies won't be able to take advantage of consumers with predatory practices; unexpected overdraft fees on checking accounts and unfair increases to credit card rates will be banned; and the era of taxpayer-financed bailouts for Wall Street banks is over.
  • Middle Class Tax cuts: President Obama secured a bipartisan agreement extending critical tax cuts for middle class families, helping those families to make ends meet and boosting economic recovery.
Keeping Teachers in the Classroom: The President signed legislation authorizing federal aid to the states, helping to keep hundreds of thousands of teachers in the classroom and police and firefighters on the streets.
  • Reforming Student Lending: The President enacted the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA), which increases federal Pell Grants and loans; makes investments in community colleges, historically black colleges, and other minority serving institutions; and caps student loan payments in keeping with graduates' incomes.
