Pay 2012 Membership Dues

I want to thank all Democrats who helped make our Holiday Party a successful intimate event. Especially Marilyn and Doug Sayan, Laurie and Larry King, and a number of others. We had a short business meeting approving the date and place for the Kennedy Dinner.

One interesting item I had reinforced during dinner conversation was we may not be doing as good a job communicating with members as we should. To help correct this I will be calling all PCO's to get their input and I and others will be working through the list we have of Democrats asking for your ideas about the party and what we all can do to get good people elected next year. Please help us with this survey, also I would be very pleased to receive any comments, by snail mail or otherwise.

I have worked with the auditor's office to determine the exact new precinct boundaries in which each of our current PCOs resides. The state party is working hard to have these offices electable along with other offices. Unfortunately, there are still a number of questions yet to be defined concerning these considerations.

Current communications will be conducted out of our new office. We are asking for help staffing the office by as many of you as we can convince to be helpful. Please accept my invitation to drop by and make suggestions on how best to elect all our Democrats in 2012. I believe we will need all the help possible this year and the sooner we start the better. Larry has a long list of specific ways anyone can help.

As mentioned, to reinforce the need for help, we have a long list of tasks we need help completing, you will not be wasting your time if you want to help work for our party. Please stop by and select the task you can help with the best, we are keeping our plans to ourselves so they will not be listed in this public document.

As mentioned many times before, if you have any interest in learning more about what is going on in Mason County you are missing out if you do not attend our discussion groups that start at 6pm just before the regular meeting. The next meeting on the 11th of January will feature Billie Howard, speaking about the Museum. See page 4 for more information.

I assume most readers are keeping up with the slow process of redistricting. It is our hope that this process will be over prior to the precinct caucus on April 15, 2012.

One of our goals for the new year, that we will need help with, is to have a very successful Kennedy Dinner. There have been a number of suggestions for the program for this event. Last meeting when I asked for help to set up the committee, the response was not what I had anticipated; perhaps this plea will work better. Please let me know as soon as you can if you are available to help with any aspect of the dinner. We particularly need suggestions for our program speaker.

Another request was for individuals to help prepare for the fast approaching caucus. I am still looking for help to run this event at each school. A PCO is the best point person for this as each PCO will be responsible for their precinct. We have made arrangements to reserve a school to house this event. It is just a matter of selecting the best locations and then getting PCOs trained for running each caucus event.

We are now asking members to pay dues for 2012. They are still $25 for the year and are due by the end of February. It was recommended at the last meeting that we might bill for dues. Since 2012 has begun, I would like to poll you readers for your comments on this subject of how we can get everyone to contribute to the party by paying their dues.
