Thanks to over 27 great Democratic supporters, we opened our office at 327 W Franklin St. on Thursday, December 1. Just to say thanks is a totally inadequate way to express our appreciation for this help!It is less than a year from the date we will all be working towards. As mentioned before I will begin contacting all the folks we have listed as being Democrats to ask for your support at what ever level you can give. I will also be contacting PCOs looking for your support. It will take a supreme effort from everyone to keep the office adequately staffed for the next 12 months. Please accept my invitation to drop by and make suggestions on how best to elect all our Democrats in 2012.
As mentioned last issue, if you have any interest in learning more about what is going on in Mason County you are missing out if you do not attend our discussion groups that start at 6pm. The next
Meeting, however, on the 14th of December, will be our Holiday Party, at 6 p.m. as well. See the notice in this issue and check the request for food to find out what to bring to this event. Hope you can make it.
I assume most readers are keeping up with the slow process of redistricting. We will be part of the process when it becomes a reality.
One of our goals for the new year, something we will need help with, is to have a very successful Kennedy Dinner. Last meeting I asked for help to set up the committee for this event. The response was not what I had anticipated; perhaps this plea will work better. Please let me know as soon as you can if you are available to help with this event.
Another need is for individuals to help prepare for the fast approaching caucus. We will need to arrange for space, and we will need to make sure all PCOs who will be running their caucus understand what will be expected. We also need volunteers for areas that have no PCO. As usual, please let me know if you have the time and energy to help make sure this event is run professionally.
I would like to start a discussion about this newsletter. We need to know what you want to see here. Unfortunately, very few Democrats contribute articles—we need many more writers. We also need help with production and editing. If you have even the slightest interest in helping, let me know. I would also like to see if we might get a bit of political discussion into the newsletter. The Kitsap County newsletter actually talks politics—what do you think about that idea? I would like to present some thoughts on current events, that may even represent differing opinions. If you want to comment, let me or a member of the executive board know what you think; a novel concept might be a good idea.
As some folks have yet to pay for 2011, we are still collecting the $25 dues if you have overlooked it.
It was recommended at the last meeting that we might bill for dues. Since the 2012 dues will be requested in a month I would like to poll you readers for your comments on the subject of how we can get everyone to contribute.
