Now that our biggest fund raiser is over we must take time to examine how we can best support our candidates for the next two years. However, let me first thank all those who helped make the Kennedy Dinner the success it was, especially, Jane Roush, whose auction items provided excellent evidence we do have some great supporters in our party, and Cathi Bright, who spent a great deal of time making sure we had an excellent speaker, MC and auctioneer! All of us in the party owe you both many thanks!
This note is a call for everyone in the party to help us select the candidates mentioned in my opening. If you know of anyone interested in running please contact Andrew Graham and let him know. We are talking about every race, from school board, fire district and especially offices like Shelton Mayor and County Commissioner; port districts count as well.
Our 6 p.m. discussion group had an excellent speaker. He discussed the top two election legal fight and offered some inside insights. Your attendance at these events is critical to helping develop our concept of what the local party supports.
I think it is important we define what we can and cannot support in the next couple of years. I believe we have not adequately defined just what we mean by the term "big tent party." Your help and support is critical.
I am still hoping all elected officials can attend our meetings. I appreciated Casey Salisbury's discussion on the current status of his department. As hoped, a number of members had some good questions. This invitation to attend meetings is to provide the opportunity to connect with elected officials and is especially extended to anyone else reading this newsletter.
The County has changed the makeup of the redistricting committee. There will now be two members from the Democratic Party, Andrew Graham and me. Please share any comments you may have about this process.
It is our party, I really need help and cooperation to see if we can make it one you are all proud to call yours. I see one of my goals as helping keep the party together and active, regardless of how much we agree or disagree with each other. I realize I still need to build support for a number of ideas I would like to implement. Your attendance and support is critical to help me reach these goals.
