Progress is picking up!  We are still hoping to get all local elected officials to attend our monthly meetings.  A couple of special ones have joined us and made very welcome contributions.  This invitation to attend meetings is extended to anyone reading this newsletter who is also a Democrat.

A few of us attended a brief training for contacting small business owners in Shelton at our new office.  It is not the office we need for the long run, but it worked well for this effort.  As mentioned, getting a larger working office is a goal, but until then, this one could be made to work.

I want to thank our County Auditor, Karen Herr, for giving us an update on redistricting, especially local events.  This current event update is a contribution other officials might want to duplicate.

As you may have guessed, one major current goal is to build the local party.  Other good democrats, especially Mark Biggs, chair of the 35th, have the lofty goal of increasing the reach of Democrats throughout this entire region.  He has great ideas to accomplish this goal, ideas I believe can help us as well.  Come help us implement some of his suggestions at our monthly meetings the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

Mark is also compiling a blue business directory for the 35th Legislative District, something that could be coordinated with our efforts to construct the same for Mason County.

As most of you know the Kennedy Dinner, scheduled for the 1st of May at 3 pm, is our biggest fund raising event and really needs your support, if not your actual help.  Contact Jane Roush to donate auction items and Cathi Bright for everything else.

At our 6:00 pm meeting in April we will have a speaker from the state party.  If you have questions, this might be an opportunity to ask them.

This is our party.  I really need help and cooperation to so that we can make it one you are all proud to call yours.

P.S: My comments on Adage will continue on our blog until I finish my two letters to the county. This is in spite of their current withdrawal from consideration (I need not express how I feel about that).  I believe they withdrew because the County Prosecutor said they had to do an EIS, in spite of all their other expressed reasons.  Of course, I cannot prove that theory and it is just my opinion, the same as I do not believe they could have had one accepted.  What I do know is we as Democrats should have been discussing this project and all the pros and cons ever since it was proposed.  I hope we do not ignore issues in the future!!
