Pay 2012 Membership Dues

Progress is slow. We have sorted out the two year budget and finally stopped mailing the newsletter. We are now working on getting all elected officials to attend our meetings, at least when they can. and we are trying to sort out what we stand for to gain new folks who can support the Democrats, without rejecting anyone who can support our values!

A few of us attended the PCO training in the hopes of developing new ideas and procedures for success. It is extremely important we develop, cultivate and adequately train all our PCO's to achieve success. It goes without saying we need to increase their numbers as well.

Enough dreaming; in practical terms I think our last 6 pm discussion was useful, if a bit disjointed. If you would like to take the opportunity to lead an educational discussion please let me know as volunteer leaders are always most welcome.

I want to thank our County Assessor, Melody Peterson for giving us an update on the new computer system, tax statements news, as well as other very useful information. One of the Port of Allyn Commissioners, Randy Neatherlin, provided us with a very positive report on the good things happening in Allyn—thanks Randy. He even said he would keep his eye out for possible office space in his area, perhaps Belfair.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to our second goal: to provide significant resources to achieve the primary goal. We have made a good start in collecting dues. As a reminder, for those who would rather not pay the $25 at this time, perhaps you can help by volunteering with one of our fund raising activities. It is very important we appoint a PCO coordinator and resolutions/platform chair soon. This would be an opportunity to make a significant contribution to your party as well!

As most of you know, the Kennedy Dinner, scheduled for the 1st of May at 3 pm, is our biggest fund raising event. Please contact Jane Roush, auction co-chair, or Cathi Bright, dinner/coordinator co-chair, if you can provide any help. Jay Inslee will be our featured speaker. You can register on the website by Paypal. Invitations will soon be in the mail. We have other events in planning, like the Calvin Ball, house parties and whatever you might like to plan.

I am still trying to find help for someone, other than myself, to spend time at our shared office space. I will not detail any plans in this discussion, but would be pleased to discuss opportunities to help in person. Also, we will be adding names of business we encourage democrats to support on our web site. I am pleased to see President Obama's staff thought this was a good enough idea to co-op, in a way {smile}. A few of us took part in a walk to talk to local business on the 25th of February; more on this later.

For your information: Creativity at the business meeting is a concept I have proposed. For years there has been a standard format to this event. Well, we started at 7 pm and the meeting was finished by 8 pm. Do you think we can make this a habit?

It is our party, I really need help and cooperation to see if we cannot make it one you are all proud to call yours.

My comments on Adage will be on our blog in the near future. We had five individuals at our 6 pm gathering just to discuss this subject. I am sorry they did not stay; maybe next time. I only mention this to support my feeling this subject needs to be discussed, along with a large number of other critical issues.
