The Democratic Women's Club’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at El Sarape Restaurant in Gateway Center. The no-host lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the program following a short business meeting at noon. We have yet to confirm a speaker and may just use the time to talk good ole Democratic politics as it's been quite some time since we've devoted an entire meeting to such fun!Last month, State Representative Fred Finn broke away from Olympia to talk with the group about this past legislative session. He confirmed for all that it has been a very difficult session trying to find common ground in addressing the State's devastating fiscal situation. He opined that an "all cuts'' budget would be too detrimental to the welfare of the State's citizens and believes that some form of new revenue is necessary to address the budget gap. He also gave updates on legislation affecting, among other things, the Belfair Bypass project, Potlatch Sewer project, the salmon enhancement program, and potential construction of a biomass plant. Fred was well received by the group as he is indeed a great representative of the citizens of Mason County.
Be sure to attend the April 10th County Convention at Pioneer School and join us at Women Democrats on April 21st!
Peace,
Marilyn
