Coroner Wes Stockwell is a Mason County native.  He was born in Shelton and grew up on Island Lake. He is a 1976 graduate of Shelton High School.

Wes served 26 years with the Washington State Patrol; the last twelve years he served as the sergeant for the Mason County Detachment. During his state patrol career, Wes worked alongside coroners and medical examiners and became interested in pursuing a career as a coroner.

In 2006, Wes was elected Mason County Coroner.

Wes has earned a masters degree in public administration. In addition to his 26 years of investigative experience, he has passed national level death investigation certification examinations conducted by the American Board of Medico-legal Death Investigators (ABMDI).  He also received death investigation training in New York City conducted by the New York City Medical Examiner.

Wes looks forward to continuing his public service as your coroner.
