The next scheduled meeting of the Mason County Democratic Women’s Club is set for Wednesday, March 24, 2010 (the 4th Wednesday for this month only). State Representative Fred Finn has agreed to come speak about this past legislative session.  No doubt he will give us an general overview of what occurred, but if you have any specific issue you would like Fred to address, I’d appreciate your letting me know so I can get that information to him before the meeting.  I can be reached at

Last month, Bob Appel of Mason General Hospital joined us again to conclude his discussion about the current and planned activities of the Hospital.   He reviewed the construction plans in more detail, noting that the planned new surgery wing and resulting remodeling of the existing structure would help relieve the space shortages they currently experience.  He also shared information regarding the services Mason General provides and described the interactions they have with other local hospitals in providing care in emergency situations. It was another good informational session during which Bob adeptly responded to the many questions and comments from the group.

We’re still collecting dues from existing (and new) members who weren’t at last month’s meeting. If you fit in one of those categories, hopefully you can come next month with dues in hand to hear Fred!  It should be an interesting time and I look forward to seeing you then.  Remember:  it’s March 24 – the 4th Wednesday!
